Childs bayonet for a toy rifle, possibly based on the Comblain bayonet. The Belgian identification is tentative at the moment

1868 Terssen Carbine

 

Date and serial number on the brass mounted leather scabbard, indicator of an original scabbard, there are reproductions around

 

 

GB makers mark

 

1873 date  on ricasso, V1811 serial number on the cross guard

1882 for the Comblain rifle. Hilt and cross guard is like the 1899 with a slightly more open quillion, the blade is like the French 1874 Gras. Not one of the more common bayonets

Matching numbers on cross guard and scabbard however the poor condition of the scabbard on this very rare bayonet make it impossible to photograph

Short Export

Belgian 1935, this should have a scabbard with a forked attachment to allow a BAR rifle to be used for AA use. This all steel bayonet is very uncommon and the scabbar deven more so.

 

This bayonet has very strange damage to the pommel it has broken off just where it should expand to take the normal cross bolt locking system with pommel slot

 

Pommel end is held into place by a simple cross bar
